Rich History of Lake Hamilton

Carpenter Dam was constructed in 1932, resulting in Lake Hamilton, a man-made lake. On the Ouachita River, the dam  1,165 feet in length and 115 feet high. It produces hydroelectric power. Hamilton Moses, who rose to the positions of president and board chairman for Arkansas Power and Light, was honored with the naming of the lake in his honor.
