Rich History of Lake Greeson
Lawyer and human rights activist Martin White Greeson (1866-1949) pushed for a dam on the Little Missouri river to help with flood management and economic development. The dam was built not long after his passing, despite the fact that he did not live to see his ambition come true. A reservoir bearing his name, Lake Greeson, was created by the dam’s water flow. Lake Greeson, which was built in 1950 by the Narrows Dam, is separated into three tiers, each serving a different function. To continue ensuring that the lake is producing power, the bottom layer is kept filled to maintain pressure. Power is stored in the intermediate layer, while flood storage is done in the top layer.

There is also the Cinnabar Mine Trail, a nature path that leads to a cinnabar mine that was abandoned when the lake was created.
