A Vineyard on the Water

Flying into Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, it’s easy to see the 7,300 acres of Grapevine Lake’s glimmering waters. The 60 miles of shoreline offer fun in the sun and respite from city life.

Essentials

Multiple hospitals can be found within 20-30 minutes of the lake, such as Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Grapevine and Methodist Southlake Hospital. In addition, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is a nearby major airport at just 15 minutes away.

Grapes of Raft

Grapevine Lake was created primarily for flood control and enhanced navigation in 1952, but its reputation for recreation certainly doesn’t play second fiddle. A dream for the outdoorsy, the area’s parks, campgrounds, and trails are available all around the lake. With sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and numerous water sports, boredom is not an option here.

Three marinas dot the shores of the lake and help foster an on-the-water boating community at Grapevine. Along Grapevine Lake are 12 public boat ramps; ten of the ramps are private, and two are public.

Grapevine Lake is incomparably rich in biodiversity and offers four bass varieties, including largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, and white. In addition, anglers can fish white crappie, channel catfish, blue catfish, and alligator gar. Be aware, though, that Grapevine Lake has regulations regarding certain fish.

Northwest of Grapevine Lake is a territory administrated by the Corps of Engineers. With a permit, hunting for waterfowl, small game, feral hogs, and deer is permitted here.

Lakeside Living

The good times on Grapevine Lake flow like wine, and a lake home here combines all the opportunities of city life with the pastoral pleasures of countryside living.
