Spofford Lake is a gorgeous 739-acre body of water located in Chesterfield, New Hampshire. This pure beauty in southwestern New Hampshire is just 10 minutes from Keene or Brattleboro, where you will find restaurants, shops, hotels, and medical clinics.

Travel under 80 miles to Concord, Manchester, or Nashua for big-city adventures with attractions and amenities.

The Elliot Hospital and Manchester-Boston Regional Airport are just an hour and 20 minutes away from the lake area.

On and Around the Water

Spofford Lake has a vast stretch of water for lake activities such as boating, water skiing, fishing, or swimming.

The fishing opportunities at this lake are endless! Anglers can find a variety of fish here, including smallmouth bass, crappie, bullhead, northern pike, largemouth bass, rainbow trout, sunfish, white perch, pickerel, bream, and bluegill.

Ware’s Grove Beach has clear waters, sandy shores, a snack shack, a playground, and a bathhouse. Another popular swim spot is the state-owned Pierces Island, found in the southern part of the lake, where you can hang out in the sun.

The Spofford Sailing Club was established in 1898 and is still around today. The fleet can commonly be seen sailing the lake. The club hosts regional and national regattas along with weekly races.

Pine Grove Golf Course features views of Spofford Lake, water features, rock outcroppings, and wildlife habitats among its nine-hole course.

The Chesterfield Gorge Natural Area is a 13-acre state park just east of the lake that features a gorge, waterfalls, and brooks along its hiking trails.
