About Bull Shoals Lake

Located on the Missouri-Arkansas State Line

Bull Shoals Lake is a recreational treasure in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains.

Straddling the Missouri-Arkansas state line, the lake is convenient to Branson, Missouri, and Mountain Home, Arkansas. The cities are excellent sources of attractions and nightlife, along with large hospitals. The Branson Airport is under three hours away, with your location on the lake determining the distance.

On the lake’s southern shore, the City of Bull Shoals offers unique restaurants, coffee shops, and gift shops, along with hotels and resorts.

A Massive Body of Water

Bull Shoals Lake snakes across 70,000 acres with hundreds of inlets and branches. It has around 1,000 miles of shoreline.

The Bull Shoals Dam was constructed in 1951 on the White River. Spanning 2,256 feet, it is one of the largest concrete dams in the United States.

Prime Location for Watersports

Bull Shoals’ exceptionally clear waters gave it the nickname “The Caribean of the Midwest.”

It is a prime diving location, having visibility from 20 to 40 feet deep. There are dozens of mapped diving sites around the lake.

Bull Shoals Lake hosts watersports of all kinds; it is shared by pontoons, powerboats, sailboats, water skiers, wakeboarders, and kayakers.

There are tons of secluded beaches around the shore where you can take a break or spend the whole day relaxing.

A Healthy Crop of Fish

Anglers come to Bull Shoals to reel in fish that weigh double-digits. These include largemouth bass, striped bass, and walleye, but it also holds bream, crappie, and trout.

Since it does not freeze over, fishing can be done year-round by residents. Dozens of fishing tournaments hit the lake throughout the year.
