Ely, Minnesota: Dorothy Molter was the last remaining resident of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness until her death in 1986. She was known as the Root Beer Lady, because visitors from all over the world would paddle up to her door to purchase over 10,000 bottles of root beer each year.
